House of Lasagna

"I'm craving for House of Lasagna's carbonara lasagna.  It's sooo good!"  my best friend D told me one day.  Having never tried the restaurant before, this definitely perked up my interest and before we knew it, I was already right in front of House of Lasagna in San Juan.

First thing I noticed was that there were 9 kinds of lasagna to choose from ranging from red sauce to white sauce and everything in between.  For those who are watching their carb intake, do not worry.  They also offer other dishes like chicken, beef, pork and seafood.  They have salads and cakes too.  But since we were there solely for their lasagnas, we opted to just get two kinds and split both.  I initially wanted to get the Lasagne Frederico (hello, truffle shavings!) but sadly, it wasn't available that time.

Here's what we had:
Complimentary Bread

Chicken Skin
I'm a chicken skin monster so seeing this as one of their appetizers, I wasted no time in ordering it.  Crrrunch!

Clam Chowder
I wouldn't bother with this bowl of clam chowder, if I were you.  It ranks as one of the worse ones I've tasted.  Save your tummy for the lasagnas instead.

Carbonara Lasagna
D's favorite.  And now I know why.  The sauce was very thick, rich and creamy (ok ok, in short, dieter's hell) and the pasta was cooked just right.

Pesto Lasagna

Pretty good too!  D has never actually tried this one before and he liked it.  I also ordered the Pesto Lasagna a few days after for the family and they liked it too!

The verdict?  4 out of 5 stars!  Lasagnas were delicious.  Best to be shared though, because portions are huge!  Price points are reasonable too.

On a side note, we did notice that the hygiene of the dining area was not too good.  At least, for the San Juan branch.  We did notice a few crawling/flying insects and one big cockroach when we dined there.  Hope they do something about that because it definitely turns off any customer that might come across such creepy crawlies.  Sigh.  I guess I'll have mine delivered, for now at least.

House of Lasagna is at J Abad Santos St cor. V. Cruz St. Little Baguio, San Juan
