Outfit of the Week: Ladylike

Back from a week long hiatus.  Sorry!  Last week has been quite a busy one.  Went to Hong Kong (again!) and came back just in time to celebrate my milestone birthday!  Guess I'm no longer as young as I'd like, but hey, there's more to life than just a number, right?  Anyway, for my birthday, this is what I wore.  I've had the skirt forever, but wearing it out for a none-event would be too dressy, so it's a good thing I remembered it as I was planning for my birthday outfit.  Call me vain and all, but I believe birthdays are special and it's the one single day in the whole year where you can be a princess or a queen (yup, this old gal still believes in fairytales!)  So to be a princess, one must dress like one.  I'm not saying that the outfit should look princessy, but it should at least make you feel like one.  And for me, this is my princess outfit.  Love the old world glamour that the skirt exudes.  It's proper, yet it doesn't make you feel like you're wearing your old aunt's clothes.  LOL!  But seriously, if I could wear this everyday, I would.  In fact, I still have a couple of midi skirts in my closet that have yet to see the light of the day.  Hmm.. maybe I'll wear them out one day, just because.  :)

Outfit of the Week: Modern Kimono

Over the years, I noticed that jackets almost always makes an outfit look more polished and more professional.  Doesn't matter what you wear underneath, be in a simple white tank or a floral top, topping it off with a jacket glamorizes the simplest of outfits.  So why am I harping over jackets when I'm not wearing one?  Because in this country where the sun always shines and the weather is 24/7, 365 days hot hot hot, 'ol sweaty me cannot stand the thought of wearing jackets!  Nope.  If I could go out in my birthday suit, I would.  But that would be scandalous.  Plus, I think everyone would run away screaming "my eye, my eye!!!"  LOL.  So what's the next best alternative?  Kimono jackets!  Aha!  See?  All this babbling leads to a point!  It's definitely lighter than a jacket, but it also gives off that same polished look and same coverage, without making you break a sweat!  How's that for fashion and comfort?  Best of both worlds!  Another plus is that kimono jackets are so versatile, you can wear them practically with anything.  Be it a dress, a skirt, a pair of pants, leggings, shorts... the list is endless!  Just a tip when finding your own kimono jacket though, veer away from the ones that looks like a bathrobe or else you'd end up looking ready for bed, or bath!  LOL.  We wouldn't want that.  So choose your piece wisely and you'd be able to wear them in endless ways.  Enjoy!

New Obsession: The YSL Belle Du Jour Clutch

Ok, so maybe I'm a little (or a lot) late on wanting this, because practically anyone and everyone I know already has this clutch.  But whatever, I just suddenly realized that I badly NEED this clutch because I've been going to much events and weddings lately and all I ever carry is my black Chanel caviar clutch.  Yes, it is a nice clutch but a girl needs to rotate things once in a while (yes, I am finding reasons to justify another bag purchase LOL).  So enter the YSL Belle du Jour (BDJ) clutch.  I searched high and low all of the past few days and found out that it just increased $200 last month!  Lucky me!  Argh!!  Well Saks still has the BDJ clutch selling at the old price ($595) but it's only available in black, and I need to veer away from black and inject a pop of color into my wardrobe so black = no go.  And besides, why go for black when there's a whole plethora of colors like this???

See?  It's hard to even just choose one color.  If I had all the money in the world I'd get one in each shade so that I can match it with every outfit I have!  Sadly, that's just a dream (for now, hopefully!) so I've got to pick one.  Eeenie, meenie, miney, moe!  Wish me luck on my BDJ clutch hunting!

If you're interested in a black one (a bargain selling at the old price!) , you can get it from Saks here.
