Outfit of the Week: Flower Power

Ah, Valentine's Day.  The day for all things love, flowers, chocolates, and mushiness.  Why am I talking about something that happened almost a month ago?  Well, because what you'll see below is my Valentine's Day outfit.  For the day of love, I chose to go with the flow.  Flowers on my top and flowers on my belt.  Yes, I couldn't get any cheesier.  But heck, it only happens once a year so might as well make the most out of it, right?  To prevent overkill, I chose to go with solids for my bottom and other accessories.  Anyway, can I tell you how much I love my top?  Was browsing through Robinson's Department Store a few months back, with no intention to buy, and then I had to see this.  The simple floral design, the uneven hem... it had me under a spell.  Of course I had to get it!  It's practically screaming my name!  LOL.  Kidding aside, it does look a bit formal, so I had to choose an occasion to wear it.  Now, which occasion would be better than Valentine's right?  It was a good thing I remembered I had it!  So, what do you think?  Yay or nay?  Sound off at the comments section please!

Outfit of the Week: The Wizard of Oz

Remember the time when everyone was obsessed with Dorothy's ruby slippers?  Okay, maybe I don't.  Heck, I wasn't born yet!  But I've heard too much gushing as to how "this pair made me feel like Dorothy" in various articles and blog posts to know enough that the particular pair of ruby slippers has made a mark in the fashion world.  Well if Dorothy has her ruby slippers, then Miss M has her silver pumps!  When the silver pumps trend hit, I was fixated.  I've searched high and low for my very own pair, but came up with nothing.  Those I found were either too small (hello, big feet!), poorly made, too expensive, or just plain ugly.  Who knew I'd find my gem in Target?  Yup, these babies came from Target in Sydney.  At a great price too!  Don't you just love Target?  I'm hooked.  The entire store is a paradise of cheap thrills.  So whenever I'm abroad and there's a Target in that country, I'm there.  No questions asked.  And yes, I dressed up this outfit from the toe up.  Nothing fancy, just a simple outfit that can highlight my silver pair.  Hope you guys like it!

Outfit of the Week: Vest Interests

LOL.  Sorry for the corny title.  I needed something to go with vest and this was the first thing that popped into my mind.  And being in a hurry as I type this, I guess it'll have to do :)  For some reason, I always associate vests with business, like they are only meant for business attire.  But that's so not true.  Today, I'll give it a different spin by pairing it with shorts.  It creates a perfect balance because the vest makes the shorts a little bit more formal, while the shorts make the vest a little bit more casual.  Do I make sense?  This would be ideal for casual meetings, or if you just want to go out but do not want people to think you just rolled out of the bed and didn't make an effort in dressing up.  Just throw on the vest, and voila!  Instant outfit changer.  How do you like it?

Outfit of the Week: Red-dy to Rock!

Happy Chinese New Year!  Today marks the start of the year of the water snake.  According to the feng shui expert of Dra. Vicki Belo (as per her twitter account), lucky signs for this year are dragon, ox, rat, monkey, rooster and sheep.  Roosters will be most lucky.  So if you were born under the year of the rooster, or any of the other signs, lucky you!

On to my outfit, I wore this to my brother's birthday lunch-dinner a few weeks back.  The top and pants were both amazing sale finds!  Don't you just love the leather look of the pants?  Makes me feel like some sort of a rocker.  To tame down the rocker look, I went with a sweet peplum top and amazing swarovski-encrusted pumps.  You likey?  Sound off at the comments section please!  Will be waiting!

Outfit of the Week: These Boots are Made for Walkin'

Another outfit shot from our Hong Kong trip!  As I've said before, it's rare that we get cold weather here in Manila, so I made sure to pack all my cold weather essentials for the trip.  One of my absolute favorite pieces is this Lauren Conrad blazer that I got from the Fort Karl Edward Bazaar late last year.  It just so happens that I was wearing this exact same red button down shirtdress when I first tried it on and my mind went *ding ding ding* --- outfit idea!  Shame that it took me a few months after before I could finally wear it, but at least, here it is!  Now I can blend in with other fashionable people in Hong Kong! --- uhm... that's my "feeling fashionable alter-ego talking, sorry!"

Outfit of the Week: Sporty Chic

It's been a week now since we came back from Hong Kong, and I've missed it from the time we landed here in Manila until now.  The shopping, the food, the weather.... aaaaahhh!!!  Admittedly, the weather in the Philippines is now becoming colder, but it's nothing compared to the aircon-weather in Hong Kong.  Of course I had to take advantage of it!  Jackets, check!  Tights, check!  I've always envisioned myself wearing tights, but it's just too hot and humid in our country to do so, so a trip to cold Hong Kong gives me the perfect excuse to whip out my cold-weather outfit.  Notice my skirt?  It caught my eye during one of my endless trips to Forever 21 (I swear, they have EVERYTHING!).  The fabric is just sooo nice with the floral appliques and all that I didn't even try it on.  I just grabbed it and went straight to the counter.  Biggest surprise:  it turns out that I grabbed the skirt from the 50%+50% off rack and can you guess how much I got this amazing skirt for?  *drumroll please*  Php 259.50!!!  *faints*  I almost did a happy dance right at the counter but the cashier might give me a weird look and the other customers might think I'm a loony so I just did the happy dance in my mind.  LOL.  Didn't want to look too girly with the 3D flowers on my skirt, so I topped it off with a sporty jacket to give off that sporty chic vibe.  How do you like it?

Outfit of the Week: Mullet Schmullet

The mullet skirt/dress trend that a lot of people have loved so much in 2012 is almost over.  Before it officially becomes "out", here's my take on the popular trend that has pretty much ruled last year.  One item that I particularly love about this outfit is not the mullet skirt, but rather, the denim vest.  It's so versatile!  It matches almost everything, and immediately puts an outfit together.  Girls, never underestimate the power of a good denim vest; you can use it for a long, long, LOOOOOONG time.  The day I wore this, I actually saw three other ladies at the mall wearing their denim vests.  One of these days I'm probably going to do a post about the 5 (or 10!) must haves in any and every girls' wardrobe, and guess which one will be the first one on the list?  Yep, none other than the denim vest!

Rant: The Far Too Disappointing Zara Sale + New Sale News!

Ok so remember my post yesterday wherein I was so excited about the Zara sale?  I finally got the chance to check out the Zara sale last night in Shangri-la Plaza and boy oh boy, was I disappointed.  Markdowns were very minimal, think Php200-300 off.  There were bigger markdowns on bigger ticket items, like a dress that was regularly selling for Php5990, marked down to Php4990.  Yes it was already a Php1000 discount, but if you see the bigger picture, it really doesn't make much of a difference.  I even saw the dress I bought in HK last year.  I bought it at a regular price and when you compare it to the markdown price here, it was still far more expensive than the price I bought it for.  Oh well... guess I just have to wait for the further markdowns before checking out the store again.

On the other hand, don't fret when you've feel let down with the Zara sale because I've got news for you!  Topshop, Topman, Warehouse, Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge and Ben Sherman are now having their end of season sale starting today!

And more:  Rustans is also having their end of season sale!  There will be an Exclusive Sale Preview for FSP2 and Citibank cardholders from 8am to 10am tomorrow.  Simply present either card to enter!  Isn't that fabulous?  Here's more:  there will be additional discounts to be given for the holders of FSP2 and Citibank cards only for tomorrow and on Sunday.  Regular items get 10% discount while X items get 5%!
