Online Shopping in the Philippines

Source: http://media.cagle.com/163/2013/11/26/140684_600.jpg

So... Black Friday and Cyber Monday just went by.  Have any of you managed to score some great deals during these once-a-year ultimate sale extravaganza?  If you live in the States, then lucky you!  As for us in the Philippines, sad to say that not all retail merchants have participated in the said event.  Blame it on the lack of Thanksgiving holiday here.  LOL.  Kidding aside, even if we don't get to enjoy that much perks here, I can say that things have definitely shaped up for us in the past few years.  Case in point?  The existence of online shopping sites like Zalora and Lazada.  Admit it, these are the top two brands that pop up in your mind when you put Philippines and Online Shopping together in a sentence.  I've bought from both.  But being a crazy-for-fashion girl, I always find myself clicking through Zalora every chance I get.  So much fashion choices!  And not only that, they also have your favorite brands up on their site.  An example?  I totally love the Mango collection at ZALORA.   They probably have almost everything a girl (and boy!) needs, sartorial-wise.  Much, much better than going to the mall, if you ask me.  Heck, you won't even have to fight anyone for that elusive parking slot!

Outfit of the Week: Dressing Down

My day 2 outfit in Hong Kong.  It was hot this time of the year in Hong Kong, so I made sure that all the clothes I brought for the trip were comfortable and breathable.  Confession:  on my lazy days, my go-to outfit would always be a tank top and slouchy pants.  I love the fact that it's easy to put together, yet it doesn't look like you made zero effort in dressing up.  It's also a good thing that most retail stores have put out their versions of the drawstring-waist slouchy pants for the season -  it makes it so much easier that you have lots of options from solids to printed to florals and everything in between!  Just jazz it up with some accessories (no accessories for me in this photo, didn't have much luggage space!  LOL!) and you're good to go!

Outfit of the Week: Going Back In Time

Presenting:  my teeny-bopper outfit.  LOL!  When I first laid my eyes on this jumper, I really wanted it.  But I wasn't too sure if it would be age-appropriate for me.  I texted my friend KL and asked, and her reply was a resounding yes!  Hence, you are seeing me and my outfit in this post.  Blame KL if you have been forever traumatized.  Haha!  Kidding aside, I wore this on the plane on our way to Hong Kong.  I love how comfortable the jumper is!  And since my gladiator flats have not seen the day since the LA outfit post, I figured I might as well make the most of out it!  First time I wore a hat too!  Not to shabby, eh?  Hope you guys like it!

Outfit of the Week: Black with an Accent

I dressed up this outfit around the necklace.  There.  I said it.  Is it obvious?  Haha.  Well, the moment I laid eyes on this particular piece, I knew I wanted to wear an all black outfit to fully accent the necklace.  It's far too pretty to get lost amidst a floral ensemble, don't you think so?  Luckily, I found this Mango dress during the sale.  Add a simple black bag and a pair of black peep toes, and we're good to go!  Whatcha think?  Yay or nay?

Outfit of the Week: Sweater Weather

My Macau outfit.  When I was deciding what to wear for our day in Macau, I figured the weather would be as cold as Hong Kong since it's just an hour away by ferry.  Wrong.  Though it was a bit chilly, Macau was far too sunny that it was more hot than cold.  So by the time we walked to and from the hotels, I was already sweating buckets!  Good thing I was wearing a cardigan and not a sweatshirt.  All I had to do is take it off and everything was better.  LOL.  Lesson of the day:  always have a sweater on hand, just in case! :)

Outfit of the Week: The Playsuit

Aside from shirtdresses, maxidresses and t-shirt dresses, my next favorite outfit has got to be playsuits and jumpsuits.  For those who are unfamiliar, playsuits are also known as rompers, which are one-piece top and shorts combo, while jumpsuits are one-piece top and pants combo.  Today I'm wearing a beaded playsuit I got from Miss Selfridge and the clear loafers from Bass.  Back story:  I've wanted this playsuit for the longest time, but refused to fork over the retail price.  So I waited.  And waited.  Until finally they went on sale!  Will you believe that I got this piece for 70% off the retail price plus an additional 10% off?!  What a steal!  The additional 10% off was because some of the beads have already fallen out, but since there were additional beads provided and I know how to sew, it wasn't a problem at all!  A little bit of sewing after and the playsuit is already in perfect condition.  Fabulous!

Outfit of the Week: Bling It On

What do you do to spice up a simple dress?  Easy.  You pile on the accessories!  Well in my case, not exactly pile on.  I just added some pieces, and that's a lot considering I don't wear much of it.  The dress itself is oh so pretty (believe me, I've gotten compliments from both my Dad and my Dad In Law, and that's a lot considering they don't really say anything much about my outfit choices, haha!) but I thought it looked too simple to just wear it on its own.  So bring on the bling!

Outfit of the Week: Red-dy to Rock!

Happy Chinese New Year!  Today marks the start of the year of the water snake.  According to the feng shui expert of Dra. Vicki Belo (as per her twitter account), lucky signs for this year are dragon, ox, rat, monkey, rooster and sheep.  Roosters will be most lucky.  So if you were born under the year of the rooster, or any of the other signs, lucky you!

On to my outfit, I wore this to my brother's birthday lunch-dinner a few weeks back.  The top and pants were both amazing sale finds!  Don't you just love the leather look of the pants?  Makes me feel like some sort of a rocker.  To tame down the rocker look, I went with a sweet peplum top and amazing swarovski-encrusted pumps.  You likey?  Sound off at the comments section please!  Will be waiting!

Outfit of the Week: Paint Splattered

Ahh the fruits of the Mango sale.  I'm totally obsessed about this paint splattered dress.  It skims the body but doesn't make you look bulky.  What girl wouldn't want that right?  And the best part is, I got it on sale!  Wanted to wear flats but it just doesn't look right, so I went all out with the pearls and the clutch!  This is one of my favorite looks to date.  Do you like it?

Side note:  Did you notice the candy wrapper clutch?  Sorry it's not too visible here, but if you're familiar with the recent collaboration between H&M and Margiela, this is it!  The moment I saw the clutch from the lookbook, I knew I had to have it.  But how?  We still don't have an H&M store here.  No other means but to stalk Ebay.  There were hundreds of listings but some prices were crazy high and there's no way I'm paying for a faux leather clutch at the prices they were asking.  Finally found one with a reasonable mark-up and went in for the kill!  Was as giddy as a kid on Christmas day when I won the auction!  Ah the joys of Ebay (or Evilbay as some would call it, haha!).  Still wish one of the retail giants would bring in H&M here to our shores so that we don't have to rely on relatives/Ebay to get our H&M goodies!  Retail gods, please hear me out!
