Outfit of the Week: Furry Friend

Isn't it exciting when you go out of the country and find one perfect piece that completely makes up your outfit?  This happened to me, and my one perfect piece is this fur vest.  Actually, I've already seen this exact fur vest in our local Forever 21 store, loved it a lot, but thought to myself "how on earth am I going to wear that out in a hot and humid country like ours?!"  So I let it go.  It was a good thing the opportunity presented itself while we were in Tokyo and I saw the vest again.  Let me tell you, the fur was sooooo soft and silky, I couldn't stop touching myself!  Even Hubby too! (ok you people with dirty minds, couldn't stop touching the FUR ok? LOL!)  So yes, no regrets in getting my fur vest, even if I only got to wear it once.  I'm sure there'll be more trips on colder climates soon, and you can bet I'll be bringing it along!  xoxo

...and this, my friends, marks the end of my Tokyo series this January 2015.  Now, back to regular programming!

Outfit of the Week: All Wrapped Up

Tokyo was way colder than expected, which was a good and bad thing.  Bad because the clothes I brought along were not enough, but good because that's the perfect excuse to go shopping!  Notice the jacket?  Been wanting it for a long time, just found the right one and the right weather to wear it to.  I call it the "Paddington" jacket since it reminds me of Paddington Bear!  As luck would have it, I chanced upon it on sale, last piece AND in my size!  Call it luck, or call it destiny, but I call it mine :)  Still dreaming of the cold weather... I am so not ready to face the hot summer yet!  Speaking of hot... hope you guys had an amazing (hot and heavy) Valentines Day! LOL!  xoxo

Outfit of the Week: Boom!

Been a long while since I've posted an outfit post huh?  If you're wondering why I'm wearing such a cold-weather outfit when it's so hot here in Manila, well...  It's because this was taken in Tokyo.  Yup, another travel post!  Just got back from Tokyo last week, and did my best to finish all the Australia posts so that I could finally get on to the Tokyo ones.  Sorry, please bear with me!

Anyway, on to the outfit!  This is me, standing right outside my hotel, sleepy as heck (hello, 5am flight!) and freezing my buns off!  Tokyo during January, as it appears, is about 2 degrees Celsius.  Brrrrrr!!!  But I'm not one to complain about the cold, since I've had enough of warm weather living in a tropical country like ours.  So freezing weather, bring it on!

When flying, I make sure to wear something comfortable.  It's amazing because who would've thought that faux leather joggers would be comfortable, right?  But I swear, it is!  They give you movement of PJs, yet it looks a hundred times more chic.  As for the top, have had it for more than a year now, with the Target x 3.1 Phillip Lim collaboration (love, love, love collaborations!).  Had nowhere to wear it until now.  I was only too happy to break it out of the closet.  Can you tell I'm in love with winter?  LOL!  Do look forward to a couple more cold-weather outfit posts!  xoxo

Outfit of the Week: Forever 21

I'm a lazy dresser.  There.  I said it  It's already hard enough to think of outfits to wear when you're staring at your closet brimming with clothes, what more if you need to pack for a trip?  Sigh.  Girl problems.  Easiest route?  Dress+Denim Vest combination!  I would've gone with just the dress since it was hot and humid, but I'm not too comfortable being so bare so the denim vest is the perfect solution.  Makes the outfit more dressed up too, so you can go wherever without worrying about being underdressed or overdressed.  Another plus point?  This combination works with different age groups - whether you're in your teens or you're in your thirties (at least, in my opinion), so yes, I will probably be storing more of these in my closet for at least a few more years :)

Outfit of the Week: Dressing Down

My day 2 outfit in Hong Kong.  It was hot this time of the year in Hong Kong, so I made sure that all the clothes I brought for the trip were comfortable and breathable.  Confession:  on my lazy days, my go-to outfit would always be a tank top and slouchy pants.  I love the fact that it's easy to put together, yet it doesn't look like you made zero effort in dressing up.  It's also a good thing that most retail stores have put out their versions of the drawstring-waist slouchy pants for the season -  it makes it so much easier that you have lots of options from solids to printed to florals and everything in between!  Just jazz it up with some accessories (no accessories for me in this photo, didn't have much luggage space!  LOL!) and you're good to go!

Outfit of the Week: Going Back In Time

Presenting:  my teeny-bopper outfit.  LOL!  When I first laid my eyes on this jumper, I really wanted it.  But I wasn't too sure if it would be age-appropriate for me.  I texted my friend KL and asked, and her reply was a resounding yes!  Hence, you are seeing me and my outfit in this post.  Blame KL if you have been forever traumatized.  Haha!  Kidding aside, I wore this on the plane on our way to Hong Kong.  I love how comfortable the jumper is!  And since my gladiator flats have not seen the day since the LA outfit post, I figured I might as well make the most of out it!  First time I wore a hat too!  Not to shabby, eh?  Hope you guys like it!

Outfit of the Week: Biker Chick

And for the last outfit in this LA series, I give you the biker chick look.  Ok ok so it doesn't look anything like a biker outfit... well, maybe a little?  The top surely looks like it, right?  When I first got the top, I really didn't know what to do with it.  Loved the design, but wearing it with a camisole inside wouldn't look nice.  Besides, it would also be too hot for this kind of weather in Manila.  And wearing it with nothing inside would look too scandalous.  So what's a girl to do?  Bring it to LA where people couldn't care less about what you're wearing!  LOL!  Actually just wore this on a shopping trip, hence, the extremely casual flip flops.  Oops!  Haha!  Hope you guys like it though! XOXO

Outfit of the Week: Matchy-Matchy

Ever since the matching top and bottom trend came to life, I've been on the lookout for something like it and have browsed countless stores in search for my pieces.  Sadly, finding something like it was next to impossible.  The stores either do not carry matching pieces, or they do but the fabric/cut/fit was just wrong.  So I went for the next best thing:  made to order!  Good thing Apartment 8 has this service, and within a week of having my measurements taken, it was done!  Best thing about having MTOs?  The fit was perfect.  The cost might be a little bit higher than retail, but you're assured of good quality and everything is according to how you want it to be.

Notice the clutch?  Another great buy from my recent Hong Kong trip.  Sadly, it wasn't on sale.  Givenchy actually released this rottweiler print a few seasons back, but I missed out on it.  So I promised myself that if ever I see it again, I wouldn't pass up the chance the second time around.  Well, the Givenchy gods must have heard my plea, because they reissued the clutch for this season!  Who would have thought??  Lucky!

Like my look?  Sound off at the comments section please!

Outfit of the Week: Denim on Denim

Been wanting to try out the denim on denim trend for a while now, but I just couldn't find the right denim combination.  Good thing I found these acid-wash button downs in Topman, of all places!  On sale at 50% off too!  What a steal!  The pair of shorts, on the other hand, are part of an online splurge at asos.com.  I swear, if I browse through that site every single day, I'd go broke in about a week!  They have the best and widest selection of pieces that are unique and on-trend.  Boo for my wallet, yay for my closet!  LOL!  Goin back, glad I was able to get the look together in sunny Hong Kong!  We were actually hoping that there would be a little cold left, but were surprised to find out that the weather there is almost as hot as Manila!  Almost.  Because nothing can compare to the heat we're experiencing in Manila now.  Gaaahhh bring back the cold please!!!  LOL.  Like my look?  Sound off at the comments section please!

Outfit of the Week: Sweater Weather

My Macau outfit.  When I was deciding what to wear for our day in Macau, I figured the weather would be as cold as Hong Kong since it's just an hour away by ferry.  Wrong.  Though it was a bit chilly, Macau was far too sunny that it was more hot than cold.  So by the time we walked to and from the hotels, I was already sweating buckets!  Good thing I was wearing a cardigan and not a sweatshirt.  All I had to do is take it off and everything was better.  LOL.  Lesson of the day:  always have a sweater on hand, just in case! :)

Outfit of the Week: Comfy Casuals

Don't you just hate it when you're stuck wearing itchy/wrinkly outfits on a long flight?  Well, my flight was just 2 hours but I wouldn't be caught dead in sweats either.  So what's a girl to do?  Presenting:  my airport outfit.  Ta-dah!  LOL.  Nothing says comfortable like a good t-shirt.  In my case, I've found great looking ones from Uniqlo.  Can't say enough good things about the brand, they've perfected the art of great, comfortable basics!  So on this trip, I made sure I wore something that can make me move around AND look presentable at the same time.  Tip: if you're worried about being too dressed down in tees, then why not try draping a scarf around your neck?  Makes it look a bit dressed up, no?  Hope you like it!

Outfit of the Week: I'm A Dork

Presenting... the ever famous "DORK"  t-shirt.  If you're a regular blog reader, you might have seen this shirt a couple hundred times in other blogs, together with some of its siblings "GEEK" or "DWEEB".  Well, this is my version of it.  For a casual look, I paired it with floral harem pants and my beloved Jeffrey Campbell spiked flats!  It's weird but I'm loving harem pants in this stage of my life right now.  It's comfy, without being restricting like leggings or skinny jeans.  Still on the lookout for the ultimate harem pants though... the ones that have the crotch about 2 inches above the ground, that is!  So dear readers, if you find one, do let me know!  I'll be eternally grateful!

Outfit of the Week: Cutouts and Chains

Call it a force of habit, but one of my go-to "uniforms" is a cute top and skinny jeans.  My brother once remarked that I wear nothing but top and jeans, but I beg to differ.  There are about a billion (ok, maybe I'm a wee bit exaggerating) kinds of tops and about a hundred types of jeans.  So when you mix and match, you can always come up with a new look!  Fell in love with this top when I first saw it online.  It wasn't available locally then so I went ahead and had it shipped here in Manila.  I guess patience is virtue because a few weeks after, I saw it in our local Forever 21 stores!  So those who like my top, lucky you!  Why?   Because not only can you get it locally, but it is also available in a floral print!

Ok going back to my outfit, when wearing plain tops, I can never stop stressing the importance of accessorizing.  The more, the merrier.  The bigger, the better!  Always remember that accessories make or break the outfit, so don't be afraid to experiment.  It's a good thing I chanced upon this huge chain necklace at Crossings just the day before - it definitely brightens up the look, don't you think?

So how do you like my outfit?  Would love to hear your thoughts.  Sound off at the comments section please! :)

Outfit of the Week: That T-shirt Dress

" I don't have anything to wear!" --- does this sentence sound familiar?  Yes, seems like we girls are always plagued with nothing to wear issues.  Never mind that our closets are stuffed to the brim.  Never mind that we just went shopping the other day.  Never mind that there are still unopened paper bags on the floor and clothes that still have tags attached to them.  This is what guys normally do not understand, that a certain occasion or a certain place needs a certain outfit, and sometimes the things in our closet just isn't right.  The solution?  The ever reliable t-shirt dress.  Throw it on and go.  Doesn't matter if you're just going to the mall or you're going to a family gathering, the t-shirt dress works in every occasion (ok, maybe not for horseback riding or camping, ok?  LOL).  But take note:  not all t-shirt dress works.  You have to find one with the right fabric, right print and the right cut.  So imagine my glee when I saw this in the racks at Monki Hong Kong.  It has the right fabric (silky), right print (I'm loving the floral scarf print) and the right cut (straight, not too loose and not too tight).  If it came in 10 other colors, then I would've been so tempted to get them all! (thank goodness it only came in one print!)  So here it is, my beloved t-shirt dress.  How do you like it?  Sound off at the comments section!

Outfit of the Week: Rainbow Leopard

Here's what I wore to the VIP opening of SM Aura at the Fort.  With the media/bloggers all buzzing about the opening, who doesn't know about it, right?  Wasn't actually planning on going, but last minute changes to my schedule allowed me to do so and boy, was I glad I went!  Why?  Three words:  Sarah Jessica Parker!!!  Yes, I finally got a glimpse of the woman behind the Sex and the City fame (confession:  I still can't get over the fact that SATC has already ended so now I started watching The Carrie Diaries and got hooked!).

Anyway, on to my outfit!  Had a few errands that day so I didn't want to get all dressed up, but I wanted to look like I made an effort.  So what to do?  I went for the rock-chic look.  These pair of Jeffrey Campbells have been sitting in my shoe closet for the longest time and was I ever glad I brought them out to the opening!  Why?  Because there were soooooo many people vying for a chance to see SJP and I wouldn't be able to see her if I'm in flats!  Got to shop a bit too! (My poor, poor wallet)  Oh what a memorable day that was.

So has anyone here shopped or window shopped at SM Aura yet?  If not, then let me tell you that it's one of the chicest SM Malls I've been to.  DO check them out!

Outfit of the Week: Feeling Blue

Can you see the common factor in my outfit today?  Yes, you might get the clue in the title.  If you say blue, then you are absolutely right!  There's some shade of blue in each piece I have on (except the sandals, might be overkill LOL), hence the title.  But don't worry, I'm wasn't feeling blue figuratively, just literally.  Nevermind the wind that keeps on blowing hair in my face.  Nevermind the extreme heat we've experienced while having my outfit shot taken.  I'm still a happy camper!  Shot this in Fort.  I realized it's been a while since I had my outfit shot outdoors, so here it is!  Have a happy Sunday! :)

Outfit of the Week: Baroque

Sometimes, when lost for an outfit to wear, all you need is skinny jeans and a cute top.  In this case, I paired a cute top with a cute pair of pants!  The secret is in the details:  it might look simple from afar, but upon closer inspection, you'll notice the pearl collar and the baroque print on my pants!  Have always been a believer in plain top + printed bottoms and vice versa, but since the print-on-print is on trend now, hey, maybe I'll give it a try next time!

Outfit of the Week: Florals and more

This is what I wore to battle the crowds on the first opening day of American Eagle Outfitters.  I figured I wanted something a bit stylish but comfy as well.  I knew I'd do the rounds in the fitting room, so something that can easily slip on and off is ideal, hence, this outfit.  The top is something I got from Topshop ages ago.  It remains to be one of my favorite pieces to date, and I know I'm still going to be wearing this years from now.   I love the fact that the top alone makes up the whole outfit.  Notice that I just added a few basic pieces and ta-dah!  Done!

Dear Givenchy, I Hate You.

...for coming up with such a nice bag!!!  Why oh why?  And why just now?? Arghhhh first world problems.  When the mini nightingale first popped up from my Facebook feed, I couldn't believe my eyes.  I've just taken the plunge a few months ago and bought the medium sized nightingale after a few years of indecisiveness.  Don't get me wrong.  I love my medium nightingale, but I hate the way it "crumples" and "droops" when I carry it on my shoulder.  Further research told me what I already knew:  no one really carries it on their shoulder, they just hold on to it like a tote.   That would be just fine with most people who are accustomed to carrying totes, and it's also fine with me until a few years ago when I discovered the magic of bags with long straps.  Hey, a girl needs to be hands-free sometimes!  Whether it be for carrying kids, shopping bags or helping out with unloading stuff, we don't want to be bothered with the need of also carring our bags right?  Well, the Givenchy gods must have heard my prayers, because they came out with the mini nightingale!

Weeeeee long straps!!!  Lookie!

Now my problem is, do I get this or should I just be contented with my medium nightingale and my other long-strapped bags?  Decisions, decisions.

Givenchy is available in Adora Greenbelt 5.  It is also available here.

Outfit of the Week: These Boots are Made for Walkin'

Another outfit shot from our Hong Kong trip!  As I've said before, it's rare that we get cold weather here in Manila, so I made sure to pack all my cold weather essentials for the trip.  One of my absolute favorite pieces is this Lauren Conrad blazer that I got from the Fort Karl Edward Bazaar late last year.  It just so happens that I was wearing this exact same red button down shirtdress when I first tried it on and my mind went *ding ding ding* --- outfit idea!  Shame that it took me a few months after before I could finally wear it, but at least, here it is!  Now I can blend in with other fashionable people in Hong Kong! --- uhm... that's my "feeling fashionable alter-ego talking, sorry!"
