Outfit of the Week: Feelin' Like A Schoolgirl

I am way beyond my schooling days, thank you very much.  And I will probably never go back to school again.  Guess I'm never one of those who really enjoyed studying.  It's just that I loved the jumper so much and when I matched it with a simple button down, it made me feel like a schoolgirl again.  For a second, at least.  LOL.  Looking back at the photo, I now realize that the shoes and the bag are a little off.  Oops.  But hey, fashion is experimental.  Somedays you get it, somedays you don't.  But life goes on :) xoxo

Outfit of the Week: Furry Friend

Isn't it exciting when you go out of the country and find one perfect piece that completely makes up your outfit?  This happened to me, and my one perfect piece is this fur vest.  Actually, I've already seen this exact fur vest in our local Forever 21 store, loved it a lot, but thought to myself "how on earth am I going to wear that out in a hot and humid country like ours?!"  So I let it go.  It was a good thing the opportunity presented itself while we were in Tokyo and I saw the vest again.  Let me tell you, the fur was sooooo soft and silky, I couldn't stop touching myself!  Even Hubby too! (ok you people with dirty minds, couldn't stop touching the FUR ok? LOL!)  So yes, no regrets in getting my fur vest, even if I only got to wear it once.  I'm sure there'll be more trips on colder climates soon, and you can bet I'll be bringing it along!  xoxo

...and this, my friends, marks the end of my Tokyo series this January 2015.  Now, back to regular programming!

Outfit of the Week: Borrowed From The Boys

Fashion knows no bounds.  An example?  My outfit below.  I've never been one to shop in just the ladies section.  Sometimes, I venture out to teens, men's, and even maternity! (and no, I am not pregnant)  My point is, don't let the labels limit you.  Experiment, experiment, experiment!  And this is what I did.  Sometime late last year I fell in love with this gray vest as I was browsing through the men's section of H&M.  And why just take one thing from the boys when you can get more?  Such as the bag and scarf - both borrowed from Hubby!  Isn't it so fun that we girls can pull off stuff from the boys and make it our own signature look?  Love it.  Oh and that's not the only outfit I have that's borrowed from the boys.  Stay tuned for more! xoxo

Outfit of the Week: If I Were a Boy

(Cue Beyonce's song please!)  LOL!  This is my take on the boyfriend jeans + Birkenstock fad that has swept the fashion world by storm.  I haven't been wearing my jeans lately, and this is seriously one of the most comfortable pairs I own.  The inner tomboy in me is very happy indeed.  The Birks, on the other hand, takes some getting used to.  Research online tells me that it takes about a week to two weeks of continuous wear before they can get really comfortable, and then, you'd never want to take them off again.  But since I'm always loyal to my flip flops, I have yet to get to that comfortable part.  Notice the backpack?  Been wanting one these days but I was afraid to splurge on a designer one since I'm not sure I'll be able to commit to it.  So I was only too happy when I spotted a cheap but chic version of it in River Island.  Score!  So... what do you think?  Did I pull off this look?  Sound off at the comments section please!  Would love to hear your thoughts!

Outfit of the Week: Forever 21

I'm a lazy dresser.  There.  I said it  It's already hard enough to think of outfits to wear when you're staring at your closet brimming with clothes, what more if you need to pack for a trip?  Sigh.  Girl problems.  Easiest route?  Dress+Denim Vest combination!  I would've gone with just the dress since it was hot and humid, but I'm not too comfortable being so bare so the denim vest is the perfect solution.  Makes the outfit more dressed up too, so you can go wherever without worrying about being underdressed or overdressed.  Another plus point?  This combination works with different age groups - whether you're in your teens or you're in your thirties (at least, in my opinion), so yes, I will probably be storing more of these in my closet for at least a few more years :)

Outfit of the Week: Dressing Down

My day 2 outfit in Hong Kong.  It was hot this time of the year in Hong Kong, so I made sure that all the clothes I brought for the trip were comfortable and breathable.  Confession:  on my lazy days, my go-to outfit would always be a tank top and slouchy pants.  I love the fact that it's easy to put together, yet it doesn't look like you made zero effort in dressing up.  It's also a good thing that most retail stores have put out their versions of the drawstring-waist slouchy pants for the season -  it makes it so much easier that you have lots of options from solids to printed to florals and everything in between!  Just jazz it up with some accessories (no accessories for me in this photo, didn't have much luggage space!  LOL!) and you're good to go!

Outfit of the Week: Going Back In Time

Presenting:  my teeny-bopper outfit.  LOL!  When I first laid my eyes on this jumper, I really wanted it.  But I wasn't too sure if it would be age-appropriate for me.  I texted my friend KL and asked, and her reply was a resounding yes!  Hence, you are seeing me and my outfit in this post.  Blame KL if you have been forever traumatized.  Haha!  Kidding aside, I wore this on the plane on our way to Hong Kong.  I love how comfortable the jumper is!  And since my gladiator flats have not seen the day since the LA outfit post, I figured I might as well make the most of out it!  First time I wore a hat too!  Not to shabby, eh?  Hope you guys like it!

Outfit of the Week: Gladiator

"I could never pull that off".  That was what I told Hubby, referring to a woman who was wearing knee-high gladiator flats with shorts, on a random mall trip sometime last month.  Lo and behold, that same day, I found the very same pair, tried it on, and fell in love with it.  The gladiators came at the right time too, we were flying out the following week.  So what's a girl to do?  Pack 'em in the suitcase and wear them out in sunny LA!  At first I wasn't sure if the outfit will work, but I've always been experimental with fashion.  Guess it works because as we were taking photos, a guy walked by and said 'nice outfit!' LOL.  Oh, thank you :)

Outfit of the Week: Mambo No. 5

Does anyone remember the music video to Lou Bega's Mambo No. 5?  Ring a bell?  No?  Sheesh my age is catching up with me!  For those who do not have a clue what I'm talking about, say hello to YouTube.  And to those who actually know what I'm saying, this outfit was inspired by the video.  I've always loved fringe and everything girly, so when I saw this skirt, I just couldn't resist!  Yes, even if it was a size too small and a tad too short.  Loved how the fringe sways around when I walk, and how I feel like I should always shake my bon-bons while wearing it!  Paired it with something boxy to contrast the overall shock factor of the skirt.  I personally love this whole outfit.  In fact, it's one of my favorites.

So... Did anyone notice my absence?  I might not have mentioned it, but I was in LA for a week for my cousin's wedding.  Finally, somewhere NOT Hong Kong!  LOL!  Such a shame that it was quite a short trip, but nonetheless fun.  We managed to squeeze in a bit of eating and sightseeing, so expect quite a few posts on LA in the coming days!

Outfit of the Week: Jazz It Up

Just a typical outfit at the mall.  LOL.  I'm kidding.  Well, sort of.  Because I really did wear this to the mall, BUT, I went on to an event afterwards.  If you've read about my past outfit posts on how much I love kimonos, this just goes to show that I'm still not over them.  I love how just throwing a kimono over a casual dress and adding some accessories immediately jazzes up an outfit.  Which reminds me, I have to stock up on accessories!  Gah!  No worries though.. as of writing, I am on foreign land.  So expect another travel post coming up real soon!  Oh and by the way, Happy Easter!

Outfit of the Week: Fashionable Black and White

The invite said "fashionable black and white".  So this is what I came up with.  My dear friend AC is getting married!  So for her tea party themed bridal shower, the guests were asked to come in the wedding's motif colors:  black and white.  I put together this outfit on a whim, and was pleasantly surprised with the results.  I wasn't too sure if shorts can pass as a not-casual outfit, but this just goes to show that with the right pair, and right match-up, it can actually pass!  Like my outfit?  Tell me what you think!

Outfit of the Week: Turning Japanese

Notice the surroundings?  It's in one of my favorite restaurants, Antonio's in Tagaytay.  Been a forever fan of the great food and the lush greenery so we make it a point to always visit whenever we decide to head to Tagaytay.  Well, the lush greenery makes it a good place to take outfit photos too!  As you can probably guess, I'm not much of a go-out-and-take-your-outfit-shots blogger.  I'm a bit shy to get all the stares, LOL.  But who can resist such nice background?  I can't.  So I braved it out and tried not to care about the curious glances.  Haha!  Ok ok, enough of that and on to the outfit!  A couple of weeks ago, I blogged about the versatility of kimono tops.  Here it is again, this time, paired with simple leggings.  I'm such a fan of throwing on a kimono top on whatever outfit I'm wearing; it really does perk up the look.  So how about you?  Any other tips on how you wear your kimono tops?  Would love to hear them!  Sound off at the comments section please!

Outfit of the Week: Print on Print

Finally, I was able to come up with a print-on-print look!  The colors of the top and the shorts complement each other nicely (at least, in my opinion!) so it wasn't too much.  Wore this on a day trip to Tagaytay with the family.  It's such a fun, casual outfit so it's perfect for Tagaytay.  Or so I thought.  I nearly froze to death!  Haha!  No worries, I lived to tell the tale.  Ah, the things we do for fashion.  Plan to do another print-on-print look on my future outfit post, and this time, more shocking non-complementing colors!  Do watch out for it! :)

Outfit of the Week: Supersize Me

Oh hello!  My apologies, haven't posted an outfit shot for quite some time now.  Been feeling uninspired, so lately all my outfits have been blah and not post-worthy.  LOL.  Well this week I've managed to pick myself up fashion-wise and finally came up with something decent (at least to me, haha).  I present to you... my supersize me outfit!  Why?  No it's not because I got morbidly fat over the course of the month, but rather, the title has something to do with my actual outfit.  See the necklace?  It has oversized pearls.  The skirt?  Maxi.  And the bag?  Oversized too.  The person on the photo?  Well, er... let's not go there.  LOL!  Was actually a bit conscious to wear a cropped top outside (people might start screaming and running away, haha) but Hubby said it looks fine so with a bit of self-confidence, I wore this out to a family lunch.  Well, the good news is, no one started screaming or running away, and the security guards at the mall actually let me in!  Haha!  But seriously speaking, my parents, who almost always has something to say when it comes to my fashion choices, did not say anything!  Yay!

So how about you, my dear readers?  How do you find my outfit?  Did I pull it off?  Sound off at the comments section please!  Would love to hear what you think! :)

Outfit of the Week: Cutouts and Chains

Call it a force of habit, but one of my go-to "uniforms" is a cute top and skinny jeans.  My brother once remarked that I wear nothing but top and jeans, but I beg to differ.  There are about a billion (ok, maybe I'm a wee bit exaggerating) kinds of tops and about a hundred types of jeans.  So when you mix and match, you can always come up with a new look!  Fell in love with this top when I first saw it online.  It wasn't available locally then so I went ahead and had it shipped here in Manila.  I guess patience is virtue because a few weeks after, I saw it in our local Forever 21 stores!  So those who like my top, lucky you!  Why?   Because not only can you get it locally, but it is also available in a floral print!

Ok going back to my outfit, when wearing plain tops, I can never stop stressing the importance of accessorizing.  The more, the merrier.  The bigger, the better!  Always remember that accessories make or break the outfit, so don't be afraid to experiment.  It's a good thing I chanced upon this huge chain necklace at Crossings just the day before - it definitely brightens up the look, don't you think?

So how do you like my outfit?  Would love to hear your thoughts.  Sound off at the comments section please! :)

Outfit of the Week: Vest Interests

LOL.  Sorry for the corny title.  I needed something to go with vest and this was the first thing that popped into my mind.  And being in a hurry as I type this, I guess it'll have to do :)  For some reason, I always associate vests with business, like they are only meant for business attire.  But that's so not true.  Today, I'll give it a different spin by pairing it with shorts.  It creates a perfect balance because the vest makes the shorts a little bit more formal, while the shorts make the vest a little bit more casual.  Do I make sense?  This would be ideal for casual meetings, or if you just want to go out but do not want people to think you just rolled out of the bed and didn't make an effort in dressing up.  Just throw on the vest, and voila!  Instant outfit changer.  How do you like it?

Outfit of the Week: Peasant

Do I look like a peasant here?  Haha!  The peasant reference is actually because of the skirt.  I don't even know when I actually bought it and just accidentally found it when I was looking for something else in my closet.  Now that's what I call a good find!  And since the print of the skirt is already busy enough, I figured that a plain black top and a multi-strand necklace would do the trick.  To complete the peasant look, I brought out my ever-trusted humongous Marc Jacobs bag.  And there you have it!

Outfit of the Week: Camouflage

It's no secret that the camouflage trend is hot right now.  Different designers ranging from high end (Valentino) to high street and local brands have come up with their own camouflage prints.  And yes, I'm riding on the camouflage trend in this outfit.  Can you believe that the pants are actually from the men's section of Cotton On?  I bought it a few months back when most brands still haven't come out with their versions, so when I saw it, I just had to get it!  It fit perfectly too.  Score!

And here's a closer look at my shoes and bag.   Love the skull detail on my flats and the embossed detail of the bag!  It's the small details that count!

Outfit of the Week: Rainbow Leopard

Here's what I wore to the VIP opening of SM Aura at the Fort.  With the media/bloggers all buzzing about the opening, who doesn't know about it, right?  Wasn't actually planning on going, but last minute changes to my schedule allowed me to do so and boy, was I glad I went!  Why?  Three words:  Sarah Jessica Parker!!!  Yes, I finally got a glimpse of the woman behind the Sex and the City fame (confession:  I still can't get over the fact that SATC has already ended so now I started watching The Carrie Diaries and got hooked!).

Anyway, on to my outfit!  Had a few errands that day so I didn't want to get all dressed up, but I wanted to look like I made an effort.  So what to do?  I went for the rock-chic look.  These pair of Jeffrey Campbells have been sitting in my shoe closet for the longest time and was I ever glad I brought them out to the opening!  Why?  Because there were soooooo many people vying for a chance to see SJP and I wouldn't be able to see her if I'm in flats!  Got to shop a bit too! (My poor, poor wallet)  Oh what a memorable day that was.

So has anyone here shopped or window shopped at SM Aura yet?  If not, then let me tell you that it's one of the chicest SM Malls I've been to.  DO check them out!

Outfit of the Week: Gentleman

My outfit for this week is inspired by PSY's "Gentleman".  Have you guys seen the music video yet?  That song has been on constant playback on my phone last weekend and I still have LSS (last song syndrome) right now!  Ah, the power of PSY.  Actually, I've been obsessed with the harem pants for a while back now.  This pair I'm wearing has actually been sitting in my closet for quite some time; I just haven't found a creative way of wearing them without looking too sloppy.  The failure of finding something interesting and blog-worthy made me search farther into my closet and voila!  I found my harem pants!  And just in time too, since I've watched the "Gentleman" video one too many times.  Besides, I've been wearing too much girly stuff lately so I think it's about time I go a little bit out of my comfort zone.  So how do you like my outfit?  Did I pull it off?  Would like your opinion!  Sound off at the comments please :)
