Lusting After: Skants

Beyonce
Kendall Jenner Exhibit A
Kendall Jenner Exhibit B

Call it whatever you want:  skants, apron pants or skirt pants.  Beyonce first did it, then Kendall Jenner followed suit.  Not just once, but twice!  If you're like them (ahem, with unlimited funds) then a simple search will bring you to a number of skants varying from $200+ to a whopping $1000+!  But seeing that this is a trend thing (and I don't exactly have a celebrity budget), I'd like to keep my options cheap.  Cheap ain't easy to find though.  Believe me, I did my research, turned the internet upside down yet failed to find a great pair of skants.  Apparently, the only ones that make skants are high end fashion houses and it hasn't reached high street labels yet!  That, or it's all sold out!  Boo!  BUT, fret not my friend.  This trend is totally self-doable.  Have a pair of slim cut well-fitting pants?  How about a nice wrap or straight cut skirt?  If you said yes to both questions, then slap them both together and voila!  Your very own version of skants!  Possibilities are endless.  You can either put together a printed skirt and solid pants (and vice versa), or put two same-colored solids together.  Better yet, why not do two different solid colors for a nice colorblocking effect?

Edit:  I've finally found a site that sells decent-priced skants!
Wrap Trousers from http://www.frontrowshop.com
Leggings with Front Wrap Detail from http://www.frontrowshop.com
Sadly, as of writing, these two styles above has already sold out.  Here's to crossing my fingers and hoping that they'll restock.

No worries though, here is one that's NOT sold out!  And the best part it, it kinda looks like Kendall Jenner's!  (see above photo)
Trousers with Split Skirt from http://www.frontrowshop.com

So what do you think?  Are you going to jump on the skants trend?  I for one am sure that I'll be trying out this trend.  How about you?  To skant or not to skant... that is the question!

PS.  If you should come across any website selling great looking skants at good prices, please do drop me a note or comment on this post!  I have gone cuckoo and need my skants fix ASAP!  xoxo

Outfit of the Week: Feelin' Like A Schoolgirl

I am way beyond my schooling days, thank you very much.  And I will probably never go back to school again.  Guess I'm never one of those who really enjoyed studying.  It's just that I loved the jumper so much and when I matched it with a simple button down, it made me feel like a schoolgirl again.  For a second, at least.  LOL.  Looking back at the photo, I now realize that the shoes and the bag are a little off.  Oops.  But hey, fashion is experimental.  Somedays you get it, somedays you don't.  But life goes on :) xoxo

Outfit of the Week: Furry Friend

Isn't it exciting when you go out of the country and find one perfect piece that completely makes up your outfit?  This happened to me, and my one perfect piece is this fur vest.  Actually, I've already seen this exact fur vest in our local Forever 21 store, loved it a lot, but thought to myself "how on earth am I going to wear that out in a hot and humid country like ours?!"  So I let it go.  It was a good thing the opportunity presented itself while we were in Tokyo and I saw the vest again.  Let me tell you, the fur was sooooo soft and silky, I couldn't stop touching myself!  Even Hubby too! (ok you people with dirty minds, couldn't stop touching the FUR ok? LOL!)  So yes, no regrets in getting my fur vest, even if I only got to wear it once.  I'm sure there'll be more trips on colder climates soon, and you can bet I'll be bringing it along!  xoxo

...and this, my friends, marks the end of my Tokyo series this January 2015.  Now, back to regular programming!

Outfit of the Week: Borrowed From The Boys

Fashion knows no bounds.  An example?  My outfit below.  I've never been one to shop in just the ladies section.  Sometimes, I venture out to teens, men's, and even maternity! (and no, I am not pregnant)  My point is, don't let the labels limit you.  Experiment, experiment, experiment!  And this is what I did.  Sometime late last year I fell in love with this gray vest as I was browsing through the men's section of H&M.  And why just take one thing from the boys when you can get more?  Such as the bag and scarf - both borrowed from Hubby!  Isn't it so fun that we girls can pull off stuff from the boys and make it our own signature look?  Love it.  Oh and that's not the only outfit I have that's borrowed from the boys.  Stay tuned for more! xoxo

Outfit of the Week: Boom!

Been a long while since I've posted an outfit post huh?  If you're wondering why I'm wearing such a cold-weather outfit when it's so hot here in Manila, well...  It's because this was taken in Tokyo.  Yup, another travel post!  Just got back from Tokyo last week, and did my best to finish all the Australia posts so that I could finally get on to the Tokyo ones.  Sorry, please bear with me!

Anyway, on to the outfit!  This is me, standing right outside my hotel, sleepy as heck (hello, 5am flight!) and freezing my buns off!  Tokyo during January, as it appears, is about 2 degrees Celsius.  Brrrrrr!!!  But I'm not one to complain about the cold, since I've had enough of warm weather living in a tropical country like ours.  So freezing weather, bring it on!

When flying, I make sure to wear something comfortable.  It's amazing because who would've thought that faux leather joggers would be comfortable, right?  But I swear, it is!  They give you movement of PJs, yet it looks a hundred times more chic.  As for the top, have had it for more than a year now, with the Target x 3.1 Phillip Lim collaboration (love, love, love collaborations!).  Had nowhere to wear it until now.  I was only too happy to break it out of the closet.  Can you tell I'm in love with winter?  LOL!  Do look forward to a couple more cold-weather outfit posts!  xoxo

Outfit of the Week: Laidback

It's been a while since I've posted an outfit post.  Blame it on the lazy me.  LOL!  This week's outfit is what I call laidback.  Ever get those days wherein you just want to chill but do not want to look frumpy while doing it?  Here ya go!  A simple top paired with a simple pair of chinos plus a bit of bling equals a relaxed yet totally appropriate look.  If you ask me where I could possibly wear this out, then I'd say:

1.  Shopping
2.  A kid's (or a grownup's!) birthday party
3.  Lunch (or even casual dinner) out with friends
4.  Weekend getaway/out of town

See?  So versatile!  The key to the outfit is the chinos.  I love how it's relaxed, yet it gives off a not-so-casual vibe.  So friends, to you I say find the perfect pair of chinos and hoard, hoard, hoard!

Hear ye, hear ye!  H&M is now open in the Philippines!  Hooray for them for finally recognizing the Philippine market, and hooray for us since we can finally shop without flying elsewhere!  Thank you, H&M!

Last October 17, H&M finally opened their doors to the public. I wasn't able to attend the opening due to conflicting schedules (boo!), but I was finally able to step inside just this past weekend!  Here are a couple (ok, a LOT) of photos of what our local H&M looks like.  Scroll on to see :)

Outfit of the Week: Comfort is Key

September in Tokyo is not really cold.  But yes, I am still wearing boots.  Because I love boots and have nowhere to wear them so I figured might as well wear it out in another country.  LOL.  And thank you, wind, for that windblown hair effect :)  As I've mentioned in my past outfit posts, I'm a lazy dresser.  Minus the boots, tunic+leggings is actually my daily uniform.  Love this combination to bits!  Why?  Because with tunic+leggings, you could actually just change shoes and voila!  From casual to a bit more formal in a second.  Just make sure your top is not too casual, or it wouldn't work.  Speaking of tops, this tunic is actually a dress, but comes up a bit short on me.  So pairing it up with leggings is the perfect thing to do.  And since I'm travelling, comfort is key.  And there's nothing more comfortable than a roomy top and a pair of soft, stretchy leggings.  Feels like pajamas, only better :)  How about you?  What's your travel outfit musts?  Would love to hear about it!

Outfit of the Week: If I Were a Boy

(Cue Beyonce's song please!)  LOL!  This is my take on the boyfriend jeans + Birkenstock fad that has swept the fashion world by storm.  I haven't been wearing my jeans lately, and this is seriously one of the most comfortable pairs I own.  The inner tomboy in me is very happy indeed.  The Birks, on the other hand, takes some getting used to.  Research online tells me that it takes about a week to two weeks of continuous wear before they can get really comfortable, and then, you'd never want to take them off again.  But since I'm always loyal to my flip flops, I have yet to get to that comfortable part.  Notice the backpack?  Been wanting one these days but I was afraid to splurge on a designer one since I'm not sure I'll be able to commit to it.  So I was only too happy when I spotted a cheap but chic version of it in River Island.  Score!  So... what do you think?  Did I pull off this look?  Sound off at the comments section please!  Would love to hear your thoughts!

Outfit of the Week: Forever 21

I'm a lazy dresser.  There.  I said it  It's already hard enough to think of outfits to wear when you're staring at your closet brimming with clothes, what more if you need to pack for a trip?  Sigh.  Girl problems.  Easiest route?  Dress+Denim Vest combination!  I would've gone with just the dress since it was hot and humid, but I'm not too comfortable being so bare so the denim vest is the perfect solution.  Makes the outfit more dressed up too, so you can go wherever without worrying about being underdressed or overdressed.  Another plus point?  This combination works with different age groups - whether you're in your teens or you're in your thirties (at least, in my opinion), so yes, I will probably be storing more of these in my closet for at least a few more years :)

Outfit of the Week: Dressing Down

My day 2 outfit in Hong Kong.  It was hot this time of the year in Hong Kong, so I made sure that all the clothes I brought for the trip were comfortable and breathable.  Confession:  on my lazy days, my go-to outfit would always be a tank top and slouchy pants.  I love the fact that it's easy to put together, yet it doesn't look like you made zero effort in dressing up.  It's also a good thing that most retail stores have put out their versions of the drawstring-waist slouchy pants for the season -  it makes it so much easier that you have lots of options from solids to printed to florals and everything in between!  Just jazz it up with some accessories (no accessories for me in this photo, didn't have much luggage space!  LOL!) and you're good to go!
